Development Bureau

Bureau Mission Statement: It is the mission of the Development Bureau to evaluate potential park sites, to conduct master planning for individual parks, to administer land acquisitions, to provide design, engineering, and construction supervision of all park capital improvements and major facilities maintenance, and to furnish technical assistance for the purpose of providing a high quality state park system. The bureau plans and designs facilities in a manner that reflects responsible stewardship of natural resources and protects public safety. The bureau's primary customers above all are the present and future users of Idaho state parks and their facilities.

DESIGN SECTION

Section Mission Statement: Recognition as a model of good government is the mission of the Planning Section. To ensure success, we will, in the planning and design of Parks and Recreation facilities: Be responsive to sense, serve, and satisfy the needs of the public, administrative staff, operations staff, constituency groups, related programs, and others that look to us for leadership or assistance; Guide and facilitate the input of the department in the planning process; anticipate and adapt to change; to produce acceptable change; Be proactive, motivated, and capable of identifying new opportunities. ENGINEERING SECTION

Section Mission Statement: The engineering section works to design and promote the construction of safe parks and recreation facilities using cost efficient and professionally designed engineering systems; to effectively respond to requests for technical assistance from other bureaus; to maintain and update the ownership and park boundary maps of the department and maintain records of easements and permits across agency lands; to design engineering systems with natural resource protection in mind; ensure all engineering activities comply with the applicable federal, state, and local laws and codes; and to facilitate the input of others in the department as part of the engineering process.

LONG RANGE PLANNING SECTION

Section Mission Statement: The Long Rang Planning Section will provide long-range direction for the parks and programs of the Idaho Dept. of Parks and Recreation through master planning of parks, administration of the Capital Inventory Needs Program, championing public involvement processes in projects and programs that impact the lives of Idaho€™s citizens and state park users, and the development of other long-range plans and management tools as requested.
